My journey to Active Ageing

Active Ageing Personal Training began with my own transformation. I’m Steve Nicholls, and for most of my life I was overweight, inactive, and completely uninterested in sport or fitness. Movement felt uncomfortable, gyms felt intimidating, and I never imagined myself as someone who would “get fit.”

My personal transformation

Everything changed after I took early retirement. With more time on my hands and a desire to feel better, I started walking — nothing ambitious, just small steps. One day, almost by accident, I broke into a slow jog. That tiny moment lit a spark I didn’t expect. I kept going, ran a little farther, and before long I was bitten by the running bug. My fitness grew, my confidence grew, and for the first time in my life, I felt proud of what my body could do.

From personal struggle to shared success

That experience reshaped everything. I know what it feels like to start from scratch, to doubt yourself, to think you’re “not the sporty type.” And I know how life‑changing it is when someone shows you that you can move well, feel strong, and build a body that supports the life you want.

"If you want to feel capable, energised, and proud of your progress, you’re in the right place."

My philosophy: safe, supportive, personalised

Active Ageing is built on that belief. I offer safe, supportive, personalised coaching that meets you exactly where you are — no pressure, no judgement, no generic plans. Just expert guidance designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and build long‑term confidence in your body.
